Bupleurum

Bupleurum or Hares Ear, is a tender annual plant, member of the family Umbelliferae. The plant has wiry erect stems topped by chartreuse green blooms in the summer. They make good border or container plants

Propagation is done by sowing seed. Seeds should be sown in pots, trays or a bed prepared with a soiless medium (1 part sand to 1 part sphagnum peat moss is fine) and covered lightly. The medium should be kept moist, but not soggy at about 70F. When seedlings reach a height of 2 inches, they should be transplanted to larger containers or directly outdoors, if the outdoor temperatures remain above 55F.  Bupleurum alpinus - Perennial - Beautiful walk on plant with deep violet red blooms. Forms a cushiony low growing plant perfect for rock gardens or hillsides. Height: 6 inches Hardy to -30F (-34.4C)



  Garibaldi - Bupleurum rotundifolium - Annual - Erect stems and yellowish green blooms. Makes an excellent cutflower filler. Partial or full sun. Height: 36 inches
