Little Leaf Pea Shrub - Caragana microphylla - Small rounded leaves and low rounded growth habit.  Produces yellow blooms in the spring profusely.  Very ornamental.  Makes a good specimen or hedge.  Hardy to -50F (-45C); height: 10ft.

Siberian Pea Shrub - Caragana arborescens -  Easy to grow deciduous shrub that tolerates a wide array of soil types (though it does best in light sandy soils, it tolerates extremely alkaline and unfertile soil).  It prefers a climate with cold winters and hot, dry summers.  In addition to the pretty yellow spring blooms, it also provides edible seeds, which can be eaten like lentils or dry beans and contain 36% protein.  The shrubs are sometimes grown as hedges or as erosion protection.  Hardy to -50F (-45C); height: 10ft.
