Loquat
- (Japanese Plum, Japanese Medlar) Eriobotrya japonicum - Fragrant
white appear in late fall or early winter, followed by edible pear shaped
fruits in the spring which are eaten fresh, or made into jellies and jams.
Loquats make excellent accent plants in very warm climates or interesting
potted plants in cooler ones. They are hardy to sudden drops in temperature
down to about 10F (-17.7C), but flowers and fruits can be damaged at about
20F (-12.2C). Hardy to 10F(-17.7C); height: 30ft.
