Lantanas are evergreen flowering plants from tropical America and are one of the most popular flowering plants for annual beds and containers. Mature heights can range from 2-6ft. They have woody stems and rough slightly hairy ovate leaves and blooms concentrated in clusters followed by small purple berries. They do best when planted in rich, loamy soil that is moist, but well-drained. The upright varieties are easily trained into standard (tree) forms, and many varieties are well suited to hanging baskets and as indoor potted plants. Give them full sun and weekly doses of fertilizer to produce the most abundant blooms.
